The Process: Design
Initial visit - free of charge
I will come to meet you and see your garden. We'll chat through which design service you need and your plans for the garden.
Quoting for design work
This will detail the various steps within the design process that you require and my associated fees. On agreement of the quote we will arrange my first formal consultation and site analysis.
Consultation and site analysis
Using images for guidance, we will discuss your vision for the garden including your likes and dislikes, priorities and preferences in both garden style and plantings. As a result of this consultation we will establish your garden design brief. I will analyse the garden site including testing soil pH, soil texture, drainage and aspect. I'll also measure the garden or patio space to create the site survey.
Time to Design
The design process involves a number of steps and, dependant on your specific design needs, I will present some or all of the following: concept plans, mood-boards, presentation plans, elevation drawings and planting plans. At every step of the way you will be involved in decision making so that the finished design will be a true realisation of your ideal garden space.
‘It was a great pleasure to have Helene design our garden from scratch. We were not knowledgeable on where to start and she was so professional and patient walking us through her suggestions and taking into consideration our lifestyle and preferences. She shared with us some good guides on caring for our new plants and has been so helpful when we’ve had doubts or questions along the way. Helene is so creative and we love her environmentally friendly and sustainable approach to gardening.’

The Process: Making the Garden
Hard Landscaping
If the design requires hard landscaping I can provide setting out plans for the contractor. I can recommend contractors that I've worked with on previous projects and/or assist with the tendering process.
Soft Landscaping
I provide a full planting service which includes any soil preparation required before planting, sourcing your new plants, planting and mulching and, in the case of container plantings, sourcing the containers and appropriate container composts and materials.
Aftercare
I provide a follow up maintenance service and/or create tailored maintenance plans to keep your new garden spaces healthy and beautiful in years to come.
